China - Walkmyll Moonshine at Nikami
27/10/95

Picture
Walkmyll Moonshine at Nikami (China) was bred by Freda Lewis of Walkmyll Great Danes out of a fawn dog (Ch. Hotpoint's Spread The Word at Walkmyll) and a fawn bitch (Walkmyll Melody).

I got China when she was 7 weeks old, and throughout her short life she gave me so much love, the closest bond I could ever imagine with a dog. She was also the perfect show dog, from a minor puppy she gave everything she could. At home she was wary of strangers and always barked at the door, but in the show ring, she stood like a rock, always alert and ready for whatever was asked of her.  She really liked to please, and enjoyed showing. She wasnt campaigned as much as she deserved due to family commitments, but when she was shown she did well. She qualified for Crufts at Richmond Championship Show from puppy class (Mr.J.Taylor) and her first appearance at Crufts in Junior under judge Mr. R. Heal from Canada she got placed 5th. She qualified for the following year from post  grad (Mr.S.Townend) at Bournemouth Championship Show.  Her next visit to Crufts was in Graduate, under judge Mr.J.Burton where she won her class.

Crufts 1999 write-up in the Dog World :-

"Walkmyll Moonshine at Nikami, a look of quality took her into 1st place, flowing neck, well placed into correct shoulders, well off for angulation & tailset good, moved round and used ring well."

She was shown the following year at Crufts, but didn't get a placing. After that we moved to Mid Wales from Middlesex and I didn't have a lot of time for showing after that, but she enjoyed her life living in the country. She was with me everywhere I went, a real companion and a real friend. Sadly we lost her at only 5 years old.
